Costa Rica First (CR1) announced on Sunday the conclusion of its efforts to renew the structures within the party for the upcoming period of 2025-2029. This significant milestone marks a pivotal moment in the party’s evolution.

«CR1 has officially become the first political party to successfully reach the renewal of its party plan for the period 2025-2029. Other national parties were mandated to embark on the renewal of their structures, and I am proud to say that CR1 reached its peak yesterday,» stated Omar Rojas, the Secretary General of the party. This announcement reflects the party’s commitment to restructuring and revitalizing its internal frameworks, emphasizing a forward-looking approach.

During the parliamentary session held on Saturday, a total of five new authorities were appointed, highlighting the dynamic leadership changes within the party. Among those appointed, Omar Rojas Donato was re-elected as Secretary General, demonstrating continued trust in his leadership. Additionally, Marta Campos Méndez stepped into the crucial role within the population office.

The newly formed group structure has been organized as follows:

  • President: Mario Buzo Orosco
  • Manager: Omar Rojas Donato
  • Treasurer: Tatiana Arias Hernández
  • President: Juan Carlos Obando Umaña
  • Sub-secretary: Dunia Espinoza Salas
  • Sub-: Julieta Aguilar Urbina
  • National Prosecutor: Marta Campos Méndez

New Appointments

Moreover, new members were appointed to the three national tribunals, marking an important step in the enhancement of the party’s governance:

  • Internal Elections Tribunal (TEI-CR1): 3 members
  • Code of Ethics and Disciplinary Tribunal (Ética-CR1): 3 members
  • Even the Appeals Court (Alzada-CR1): 3 members

As per Omar Rojas, the ratification process for all contracts and appointments was meticulously outlined, in alignment with the requirements established for national groups ahead of the next electoral period. This thorough process ensures that everyone is positioned effectively for the upcoming challenges.

The renewal of structures is not just a formality; it is a vital obligation for political parties aiming to remain active and relevant. This step aligns with the regulations set forth by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), ensuring that CR1 adheres to all necessary electoral frameworks and standards.
